As a second-semester college senior, I have the opportunity to take a mixology course offered by my University. Today, while waiting for class to start, I flipped through the pages of our "textbook," Bartending 101: The Basics of Mixology from the Harvard Student Agencies, Inc. Bartending Course.
I came across this cocktail recipe titled "Watermelon" and next to it an illustration of a highball glass next to a slice of watermelon.
The ingredients are as follows:
1 oz. strawberry liqueur
1 oz. vodka
orange juice to 3/4 fill
sour mix to fill
dash grenadine
garnish with an orange slice
Serve over ice in a highball glass.
Wait a minute... did you see watermelon mentioned? No? Yes, it is true: this cocktail has no watermelon in it. NONE! Zero! Instead it uses strawberry liqueur... STRAWBERRY LIQUEUR! In a cocktail with WATERMELON as its title. I'm absolutely shocked and outraged over the lack of watermelon in this recipe. Perhaps I should go to the authors of this book and show them what a watermelon looks like. There is a clear lack of communication between authors and illustrators. At least they know what watermelon looks like.

Would still try, though.

See All1. Watermelons have the perfect name. Seriously, they're 92% water. The rest pure melon deliciousness. I'm still in shock, too. 2....
